Sometimes it is not always about the perfect weight loss plan or the six pack abs. Sometimes it is about creating a sustainable nutiriton plan when life throws you curve balls – because it will! Every client has their unique set of goals but as we all know, life can get in the way, and as a nutrition coach we need to understand our client’s needs and create a plan that will make it sustainable for them. It’s always about constant forward movement and PROGRESS not perfection!
“When I reached out to Amanda for help with my nutrition I had a couple of big issues holding me back from reaching my goals and I was desperate to make some changes. I was chronically under-eating as a result of a history with an eating disorder and I was doing CrossFit 5 days a week and barbell club 2 days a week on top of it. Not only was my body feeling completely burned out, but also I found myself at the highest weight I have ever been and feeling less lean than ever. I knew something needed to change. I took a break from CrossFit and started tracking macros with Amanda. I was a little nervous at first. I felt like I had tried everything to lose weight and had only seen the scale go up. But in just my first week of following my macros, I saw a huge change, already felt leaner, and was pumped to see where Amanda would take me. It took about 4 months for me to start seeing my abs pop through and I was feeling better than ever. I started doing CrossFit again, finally got my first unassisted pull-up, and was crushing my WODs. Also, following my macros was the first thing to start healing my bad relationship with food. Even though I was planning my meals and weighing my food every day, I wasn’t thinking or obsessing about food anymore and finally experiencing some food freedom.
However, my fitness and physique goals ended up getting sidelined as I started having some serious health issues due to endometriosis. My results and newfound energy were completely disrupted by the worst flare-up of my life. I was in so much pain I had to stop working out, I couldn’t eat very much so I stopped tracking, I had surgery, I saw so many doctors, and had to go on disability because I was so debilitated by the pain and fatigue. As soon as I felt able, I reached out to Amanda again for help. Working on my nutrition with her was the first step in a long process to get me back to health. I started tracking again, diligently, as something to focus on. And, the most amazing thing is, it really started to help me feel better. Amanda slowly moved my food intake back up to a healthy volume and as my pain started to improve a little bit, I was able to start using a stationary bike and bring some activity back into my life. The thing that really blew my mind was how Amanda was able to help me improve my health with nutrition when I was the sickest I have ever been and also help me stay lean even though I was completely sedentary. I had a wedding coming up so I wanted to fit in that gown and I did!
Amanda was so motivating to me at two times in my life when I felt completely discouraged. I am so grateful for how supportive and attentive Amanda was through both of my transformations. She is amazing at what she does. Whenever I had an issue Amanda always had a good solution and provided it with so much positivity. Thank you Amanda!” Lizzy
